How would you feel about a professional baseball game being played in Grand Teton National Park?
Why do we ask? Major League Baseball asked the same question (though more broadly about playing in any national parks) last week to the White House, according to the Washington Post. MLB has previously held games outside of their typical stadiums a few times. One such example is at the Field of Dreams, a baseball field surrounded by corn in Iowa that was built for the movie by the same name.
Government officials have apparently been scouting locations inside of Grand Teton National Park for the baseball game.
It seems the sport of baseball wants to continue to brand itself as being very “American” and nothing says America like playing baseball inside a national park. However, there are significant logistical and environmental issues one would hope officials strongly consider with this concept. Because there are no existing locations for such an event, land would have to be reallocated for the field, bleachers, traffic, etc. This would come with both environmental and commercial implications, and while the scenery surrounding the game would be spectacular for attendees, the game's infrastructure could obscure the same views for the millions of guests visiting the national park each year.

Growing up, Dillon could see the Grand Teton from his house on a clear day. His family took him to nearby national parks so often that he took the parks for granted. It took the rigors of life to teach him how good he had it, and he now spends as much time in the mountains as possible.
