7 Summer Activities in Jackson Hole To Do Before You Can’t Anymore

Jackson hole summer adventures

With cooler weather on the horizon and seasonal operations winding down, now is the time to make the most of what Jackson Hole has to offer before it’s too late. Here are some must-do summer activities with specific closing dates that you’ll want to catch before they’re gone.

1. Ride the Jackson Hole Aerial Tram (Closes: October 6)

Rising 4,139 vertical feet in just 12 minutes, the Jackson Hole Aerial Tram takes you to the summit of Rendezvous Mountain at 10,450 feet. From there, you can hike the high-alpine trails, take in the breathtaking views, and even enjoy a world-famous waffle at Corbet’s Cabin (which we keep writing about and will someday have the privilege of eating).

2. Whitewater Rafting on the Snake River (Closes: End of September)

For those seeking an adrenaline rush, there’s no better way to spend a summer day than whitewater rafting on the Snake River. With rafting season coming to a close soon, this is your last chance to tackle the Snake River’s famous rapids until next summer. Check here to see which companies still have dates available.

3. Jackson Hole Shootout (Final Event: Labor Day Weekend)

Every summer, the streets are cleared at 6 p.m. (except Sundays) to accommodate the Jackson Hole Shoot-out Gang. We wrote an informative and entertaining article about it once, which you should check out here. Commenter Alan Witting, who is totally not a bot, said it’s “a well-researched and thought-provoking article.” Thanks, Not-A-Bot Alan.

4. Explore Grand Teton National Park (Many Facilities Close: September 30)

While Grand Teton National Park remains open year-round, many of its facilities, including visitor centers, campgrounds, and some hiking trails, close for the season at the end of September. (Here is a full list.) Take advantage of the remaining days of full access to explore the park’s iconic peaks, serene lakes, and extremely photogenic wildlife.

5. Jackson Hole Farmers Market (Final Summer Market: September 28)

Experience the best of Jackson Hole’s local produce and artisanal goods at the Jackson Hole Farmers Market, held on Town Square every Saturday morning during the summer. The final market of the season takes place on September 28, offering your last chance to stock up on fresh fruits, vegetables, and baked goods. Writing this paragraph makes me want to go eat a peach and hot soft pretzel. Don’t judge me.

7. Golfing at Jackson Hole Golf & Tennis Club (Closes: October 15)

We’re not huge golfers. We don’t even think it technically qualifies as a sport. But you don’t have to be the sort who likes to “exercise” via golf cart to appreciate the breathtaking views of the Teton Range while playing a round of golf at Jackson Hole Golf & Tennis Club.

Book your stay at Flat Creek Inn and make the most of the remaining summer days in Jackson Hole!
