Asian
Our pick: Teton Thai
Location: Teton Village (use Google Maps or something for exact addresses)
Menu item you have to try: Pad kar pow with crispy duck breast: stir-fried rice with basil, bamboo shoots, bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, and garlic chili sauce
What else they’re known for: After winning nine Best of Jackson Hole awards since 2015, winning “Best Chef in the West”
BBQ
Our pick: Bubba’s BBQ
Location: On the right as you’re driving into town from the west
Menu item you have to try: One pound of St. Louis ribs
What else they’re known for: Being the oldest BBQ place in Jackson, founded by state legislator Jim “Bubba” Shivler
Steak
Our pick: The Local
Location: Just off the town square
Menu item you have to try: Either the steak frites or the ribeye, both fantastic; after the house steak sauce, we will never be satisfied with A1 again.
What else they’re known for: Locally and regionally ranched meats like the Montana-raised bison burger
Sushi
Our pick: King Sushi
Location: About a block south of the town square
Menu item you have to try: We haven’t tried this, but reviewers suggest going to the sushi bar and ordering omakase, a Japanese term that basically means “whatever you suggest,” meaning you let the chef himself pick something that sounds good.
What else they’re known for: Having seafood that’s too fresh for a landlocked state
Pizza
Our pick: Pinky G’s Pizzeria
Location: Southwest of town square
Menu item you have to try: Just order a pizza
What else they’re known for: Featured on Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives
Burger/Wings
Our pick: The Bird
Location: Along US-89 south of town
Menu item you have to try: The “Meet God,” an order of wings with ultra-hot Carolina peppers
What else they’re known for: A super laid-back atmosphere
Mexican
Our pick: El Abuelito
Location: On the left as you’re heading into town from the west
Menu item you have to try: The fajitas
What else they’re known for: We’re not drinkers ourselves, but their house margarita has won several awards.
Convenience store food
Our pick: Flat Creek Inn
Location: On your right as you head into town from Grand Teton
Menu item you have to try: The Powerade. (Is it different from other Powerades? No. Does it taste amazing after a long hike? Yes.)
What else they’re known for: Being an affordably family-friendly lodging near Grand Teton National Park
