Other wildlife that frequents the area includes coyotes, trumpeter swans, bald eagles, and even wolves hunting amongst the elk.
A unique way to get an up-close view is by booking a horse-drawn sleigh ride tour through the refuge. Riding through the elk herd on a sleigh is an unforgettable winter experience for the whole family.

Forever will be returning
Located at the Gateway of the Tetons and across from the National Elk Refuge, the historic Flat Creek Inn was the perfect stay. The room was clean, comfy, and dog-friendly, which allowed us to adventure with our pups. The staff was super friendly and responsive, while the minimart and gas station allowed us to get coffee, snacks, and gas without having to drive back into Jackson Hole. The room rate is the most affordable you’ll find in the whole area. Forever, we’ll be returning to Flat Creek Inn.
