Flat Creek Inn’s Most Frequently Asked Questions
At Flat Creek Inn, every employee is a concierge. That’s because our people know their stuff about Jackson Hole and the surrounding area, and they’re happy to share what they know with you. Stop by the front desk or the store and ask them in person—or if you’re a little far away for that, we’ve compiled a list of your most commonly asked questions and our helpful answers.
Q: What are some good family-friendly hikes?
A: Start by taking the ferry to Inspiration Point or hiking to Taggart Lake. Both offer great views without having to wear out your hiking shoes to get there. See the links for more information.
Q: How far is Jackson Hole?
A: You’re here! At least, if you’re physically standing in Flat Creek Inn, that is. Jackson Hole is the whole valley, while a four-minute drive will take you to Jackson (the town).
Q: Where should we eat tonight?
A: Our former employee Quinn Kunz always recommended Sidewinders American Grill, Bubba’s BBQ, or Hardfire Pizza.
Q: Where can I find bears?
A: Aside from in the bushes while you’re hiking (always take bear repellant), you can often find bears by driving the lengths of Pilgrim Creek and Pacific Creek Roads around dusk.
Q: Where are all the elk?
A: The elk in the elk refuge across the street are usually around from December to April. After that, they migrate to their summer ranges.
Q: When is the best time to see all the other animals?
A: Most animals are active around dawn or dusk.
Q: How late is the store open?
A: Our store is open till midnight in the summer.
