The Hunt Is On: A Limited-Time Jackson Hole Treasure Hunt
If you needed one more reason to get outside this fall (other than the whole “breathtaking mountain scenery” thing), here’s one: a nationwide outdoor treasure hunt with actual treasure at the end. (And no, this post isn’t sponsored. We just like treasure hunts.)
Here’s the deal: the hotel chain Marriott Bonvoy has hidden 20 “Drop Pins” in some of the most scenic spots across the U.S. and Canada. Find one, scan the code, and boom—you get 10,000 Bonvoy points. That’s enough for a free night in some places or, at the very least, a strong start toward your next escape. The promo runs through Halloween, so get a move on it!
Here’s the best part: one of those codes is sitting right here in Jackson Hole.
The clue reads:
“Sky above, Snow King in sight—Find the flames that light the night.” (Or if you want to leave the clues to Professor Plum and Miss Scarlett, the exact coordinates are 43°28'51.4"N 110°45'39.8"W.)
If that doesn’t sound like a poetic invitation to wander downtown Jackson after dark, we don’t know what does. Somewhere near Snow King Mountain, there’s a mystical Drop Pin waiting to be found. Maybe by a fire pit, maybe near one of the town’s favorite gathering spots, maybe it's hidden under the watchful eye of a moose statue—you’ll just have to look.
And if you happen to be exploring West Yellowstone (just a few hours away!), there’s another one there, too. That clue goes as follows:
“Track down the big bronze bear and see what’s hiding in the pines nearby.” (Coordinates: 44°39'22.6"N 111°05'55.0"W.)
That’s right—two pins in our backyard. A bear, a blaze, and potentially 20,000 Bonvoy points if you’re ambitious enough to tackle both.
And yeah, it might seem a little weird for us to be doing publicity for another place for people to stay, but we and Marriott fill totally different niches in the hospitality ecosystem, so we’re not bothered. Especially if you make Flat Creek Inn your home base for the hunt. Wake up to elk bugles, grab a hot beverage from our store, and set out with your hiking boots and your treasure hunting gear of choice. Even if you don’t find the pin, you’ll still come back with a camera roll full of Wyoming magic—and maybe a story that involves crouching behind a pine tree, humming your personal theme song and pretending to be on a secret mission.
More info (and all 20 clues) can be found on the Marriott Bonvoy site.
The mountains are calling, and apparently, so are a bunch of hotel points.
