Celebrities in Jackson Hole

With its wide open spaces and low income taxes, Jackson Hole is the place to be. There’s just the pesky little fact that the median home price these days is $2.65 million. Maybe that’s why A-listers move here in droves. Who knows—maybe you’ll meet a few around town? Here are just a few of the celebrities in Jackson Hole you might meet during your stay.

Harrison Ford

The Star Wars and Indiana Jones star has owned an 80-acre ranch here for nearly 40 years. As a capable woodworker—fun fact: he worked as a carpenter before landing the role of Han Solo)—Ford has built much of the ranch himself. But looking for this mystical abode isn’t the only way to run into one of cinema’s most popular living stars. You could also try getting lost. Back in 2000, Ford flew his helicopter to rescue a Boy Scout near Yellowstone. (We don’t actually recommend getting lost.)

Kanye West

We have no idea what’s going on with Kanye West these days, but … well, he lives here too. His Jackson Hole mansion included a go-kart track, a 3,500-square-foot gathering hall, a restaurant, a shooting range, and even a saloon. And while He listed the mansion for $11 million back in 2021, he still maintains two other ranches in the state.

Dick Cheney

Best known as George W’s vice president and for that time he accidentally shot a guy, Dick Cheney is a longtime resident and/or enjoyer of Jackson Hole’s charms. Once, while out fishing the Snake River, we encountered a landed Black Hawk helicopter sent to keep Cheney safe while he was also out fishing. They even closed a section of the river for him. True story.

More Celebrities in Jackson Hole

One of the appeals of Jackson is the privacy its wide open spaces offer, so we don’t know for sure everyone who currently has a house here. But according to Property Club, the following A-listers either own a house or have spent a significant amount of time here:

  • Sandra Bullock
  • Matthew McConaughey
  • Julia Louis-Dreyfus
  • Uma Thurman
  • Brad Pitt

Ryan Kunz is a copywriter and freelance writer who writes on a variety of topics, including media, the outdoors, and whatever else strikes his fancy. He once ran into Harrison Ford at an airshow and had him sign his hat. Then, stupidly, he let his mom wash the hat.
