August-September Jackson Hole Events
It’s the dog days of summer, and there is no shortage of exciting events 'round these parts. If you’re looking to sneak in one last getaway before school is back in session, or before autumn sets in, here’s a quick look at a few selected upcoming events. As always, check the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce for even more Jackson Hole events and the most up-to-date information.
Yoga on the Trail - Recurring Thursdays through August 28
Enrich the body and mind with Yoga on the Trail, presented by the National Museum of Wildlife Art, which happens Thursdays at the Sculpture Trail with a stunning view of the elk refuge. All levels are welcome—just bring a mat and a willingness to downward-dog in public.
Grand Targhee Bluegrass Festival - August 8-10
If your idea of summer perfection involves banjos and breathtaking mountain views the Grand Targhee Bluegrass Festival is your jam. Now in its 35th year, this three-day event serves up toe-tapping tunes, mountain air, and plenty of dancing opportunities. Tickets are selling faster than you can say, “Yeehaw!”, so grab them while you can.
StoryCorps Mobile Tour - August 14-29
Have a story to tell? StoryCorps is rolling into Jackson with its iconic Airstream Mobile Booth, parked at the Virginian Lodge from August 14–29. Sessions are free, spots go fast, and reservations open about two weeks before the booth arrives. This is your moment to shine—or at least make sure that one fishing story gets told right for generations to come.
Jackson Hole Rodeo - Ongoing through Labor Day
Bull riding. Barrel racing. Cowboys doing cowboy things. The Jackson Hole Rodeo runs Wednesdays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., with bonus rodeos on Fridays during July and August (except during Teton County Fair week). The season ends with the YETI Finals and the Shriners Rodeo, which is basically summer’s grand finale.
Friday Night Bikes - Recurring Fridays through September 5
The event—curiously named “Sunday Funday” on the site, even though it happens on Fridays—is back at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort through September 5th. Expect downhill biking, tacos, yard games, and live music on the patio. Deals on bike rentals make it a perfect excuse to either upgrade your gear or just see if gravity is your friend. Spoiler alert: sometimes.
