Jackson Hole Weather

Whether you stay with us in winter, spring, summer, or fall, here's what to expect for Jackson Hole weather. All photography by Connor Kunz, in Grand Teton National Park.

Winter

(late November - April, and yes, that includes 6 months) December: Average High 28 / Average Low 6 January: Average High 27 / Average Low 5 February: Average High 32 / Average Low 8 March: Average High 41 / Average Low 16 Snow cloaks the mountains and the valley, with ten feet typical in the mountains and two to five feet on the valley floor.  Between storms, sunlit days and nippy nights provide pristine conditions for winter photos, wildlife viewing, snowshoeing, and downhill and cross-country skiing.

Spring

(late April - June) April: Average High 52 / Average Low 24 May: Average High 63 / Average Low 31 June: Average High 72 / Average Low 37 [caption id="attachment_1484" align="aligncenter" width="756"] Cascade Canyon[/caption] Temperate days and cold nights mingled with rain and sometimes snow.  Valley lakes usually thaw by late May contingent on snow-pack with snow levels remaining just above the valley until mid-June.  Valley wildflowers begin blossoming as the snow melts culminating in June and July. Summer

(July and August) July: Average High 81 / Average Low 40 August: Average High 80 / Average Low 38 [caption id="attachment_1490" align="aligncenter" width="687"] Phelps Lake[/caption] Warm (finally!) days and cool nights are customary, frequented by afternoon thundershowers.  The snow gradually retreats, with mountain peaks free of snow by August.  As the valley wildflowers wane, canyon and alpine wildflowers reach their prime. Fall

(September - November) September: Average High 71 / Average Low 31 October: Average High 58 / Average Low 23 November: Average High 39 / Average Low 16 [caption id="attachment_1483" align="alignnone" width="4096"] Oxbow Bend[/caption] Sunny days and chilly nights take turns with rain and snowstorms.  Leafy trees change color starting at the end of September. When snow flies steadily by late fall, elk move to winter homes in lower elevation.
