Flat Creek Inn

Jessie Phillips, Flat Creek Inn will miss you!

We are sad to announce that we will soon be losing our valued Assistant Manager, Jessie Phillips! She will be moving across the country for the next exciting chapter in her life. She will be missed at Flat Creek Inn! Jessie is a spunky gal that we have been lucky to have for the last four years. We are really grateful for all she has done for us. Here are some fun facts about Jessie: Tell us a little about yourself: I was born and raised in Jackson. I'm very outgoing, I love to make people laugh, I have a deep love for Eminem and tattoos (and Eminem tattoos), and I have a passion for helping others. Tell us about what you do at Flat Creek Inn: Flat Creek Inn was my first real job, I started working here the Summer after I graduated High School (before the family got the hotel back). I worked at the Old Time Photo studio during the summers prior to that though! I love all the people. Kyle and Charley have been amazing to work with, and I always get so excited when the summer staff comes, especially when people I enjoyed the previous summer are back. Our housekeeping staff is fun and it's really just like one big family out here. The Bagley family members have always been pleasant as well, which definitely helps. My official role is Assistant Manager, but aside from doing normal front desk things (answering phones, making reservations, checking people in) I handle guest complaints, I help train and assist staff with whatever it is they need, I'm on call three nights a week for any after-hours emergencies. I also try and help Kyle with whatever he needs and take on some responsibilities that were once his; I do payroll, I send a lot of emails on behalf of the hotel, I'm typically the one to respond to credit card disputes. I'm kind of here to help whoever with whatever they need! I also aim to be the comic relief. If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be? That's so hard! Probably a medium rare steak and garlic (heavy on the garlic) mashed potatoes. People would be surprised if they knew: I'm an extremely sensitive and emotional person. I come off as pretty intense and feisty, but I'm definitely a crier! Tell us a little bit about your family. I was raised by a very strong single mother. I'm an only child but have a cousin who is like a sister, my family is very close. My family has lived in Jackson since the 20's and Wyoming since before it was an official state. What do you like to do on your days off? I work 7 days a week between my two jobs, but after work I love to take long drives through Grand Teton National Park, go swimming, go see a movie, or cross stitch. What is on your bucket list? The next thing on my bucket list is to see Santorini, Greece. What is the first thing you would buy if you won the lottery? A fancy vacation to Santorini, Greece! Not really, I would pay off my mom's house. What is the greatest challenge you have had to overcome in your life thus far? I was engaged, had a wedding planned, and was really so happy and set in life, when I came home one day to my fiancé and all of his stuff being gone without a word. That was definitely the hardest thing I've ever had to come back from but I have amazing friends and family (and Flat Creek family) that helped me through it. What kinds of hobbies and interests do you have outside of work? I love swimming and volleyball. I have a new found love for cross stitch, and I have always loved rap music. I also love a good dystopian novel. I have a passion for makeup. Where would you like to go on a dream vacation? Other than Greece I think going to Disneyworld and Universal Studios would be an amazing vacation! You’re happiest when? Thanksgiving with my family; tasty food, a lot of laughs, and getting to spend time with my loved ones. It's always a big to-do, there are always a ton of people, and my family is very fun, loud, and full of surprises so there is never a dull moment. Here's what some fellow Flat Creek Inn employees have to say about Jessie: Connor Kunz: Jessie and I have become great friends against all odds. We have strong opposite views on politics, religion, social issues, economics, and pretty much everything else you can think of, and we spend a lot of time engaged in friendly debates. I've never enjoyed disagreeing with someone about everything more than I have with Jessie. She is also very thoughtful. For my birthday last year, Jessie was the one who set up a little surprise party. Jessie is one of the funniest people I know. Eric Kunz: She is always friendly, always concerned about the well being of the guest. A truly pleasant person. Tessea Nelson: Jessie is so patient! When I was training I had so many questions and mistakes and she never got mad or annoyed with me! She was always so happy and helpful! Spencer Nelson: Jessie is super funny. I had lots of good experiences working with her. She was always ready to help me at the desk regardless of how late it was, or how angry the customer was. She knows Jackson like the back of her hand and connected well with all the people who came in. She always worked Sundays because she knew that ther were a lot of employees who didn't want to. Flat Creek won't be the same without Jessie. Brady and Laura Bagley: Jessie has a very quick wit. She has a great sense of humor that helps her lighten the mood at work. She is good at maintaining a positive attitude and stay consistently even and calm, even when things are crazy at the motel. I can think of many times when Jessie did things that did not necessarily fall under her responsibility in order to help someone else out. She was someone who I could go to to cover for me or have my back if I needed. She was a good friend to have at work. Korinne Nelson:  I love Jessie. She is dependable, beautiful, caring, intelligent and funny. She works very hard and efficiently at Flat Creek Inn, sometimes even pulling 18 hour shifts.  Jessie is sometimes in the minority on her opinions on politics and religion but she is undaunted--Everyone loves her for it. I think Jessie's best quality is her heart. She really cares deeply about people especially those with challenges. She volunteers every year for the Special Olympics. We will sorely miss Jessie but are excited for her future adventures. Benson Bagley: Jessie is so easy to get along with. She knows her stuff, and she is helpful and friendly. She is quick to laugh, and simply a joy to be around.
